In a startling development, approximately 100 investors have voiced their grievances over the alleged disappearance of 700 cattle from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) farms.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  investors, comprising retirees, public servants, and businessmen, participated in a cattle venture managed by FUNAAB.

The investors claimed to have been deceived of their hard-earned investments.

A  statement by one of  the group members, obtained by PLATFORM TIMES and circulated on social media platforms, urged the public to exercise caution when engaging in business with FUNAAB.

The investors implicated a professor and other management staff in the venture, alleging that these individuals were responsible for the disappearance of the cattle since May 2023.

Despite numerous attempts by the investors to address the issue amicably, the university authorities purportedly rebuffed their efforts.

The group, persistent in seeking the recovery of their investments and the missing cattle, expressed concerns that the incident transcends mere ‘cattle rustling.’

In a statement, the investors condemned the alleged act of corruption, emphasizing its contradiction to the essence of a University of Agriculture and the Federal Government’s pursuit of food security.

They accused FUNAAB authorities of handling the matter with impunity, disregarding the potential embarrassment and collateral damage to the institution.

The statement concluded with a warning: “you are advised to please stay clear of anything FUNAAB; The University authorities are insensitive to their responsibilities.”

As of the time of reporting, the acting Public Relations Officer of FUNAAB, Sunkanmi Olajide, could not be reached for comment as he had not responded to messages sent to his mobile lines.

The university is now under scrutiny as investors seek answers and the institution’s reputation hangs in the balance.
