Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has sworn in Dr Law Mefor as the new Commissioner for Information.

Governor Soludo performed the function at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.

According to the governor, the new Information Commissioner brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that is expected to rejuvenate the state’s information apparatus.

After the swearing-in, Dr Mefor said he would work with the governor’s vision and plans to work with media organisations to promote media literacy among the public.

He said he would provide them with the necessary tools to evaluate information critically and prevent the spread of inaccurate or misleading content.

The commissioner also promised to use technology to modernise the state’s Ministry of Information, making it more responsive, efficient, and accessible to citizens, and creating a ministry that leverages data-driven insights and analytics to support evidence-based policymaking and decision-making.
