The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has strongly refuted demands for the resignation of Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, asserting that he bears no responsibility for the recent tragic killing of two policemen in the state.
In response to the 48-hour ultimatum issued by the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders and various opposition groups, urging Soludo to step down due to perceived inadequacies in handling insecurity, the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, emphasized that security matters should not be politicized.
Obigwe stated, “Politicizing security issues indicates the involvement of those behind the insecurity.
We condemn the call for Soludo’s resignation and, in turn, call for the arrest of those spearheading this demand, particularly the leadership of the Coalition of South East Leaders.”
Expressing confidence in Soludo’s commitment to addressing insecurity, Obigwe highlighted the isolated nature of the Uga incident, attributing its politicization to ulterior motives.
He praised the Anambra Police Command’s response to the Uga incident and commended the bravery displayed in thwarting what appeared to be a kidnap attempt.
“Security transcends politics, and it is unacceptable for anyone to exploit such incidents for political gain.
Soludo has effectively tackled insecurity in Anambra State, earning commendation for his efforts.
Our state was peaceful throughout the Christmas celebration, barring the unfortunate incident in Uga,” Obigwe asserted.
He further commended the Anambra State government and security forces, asserting, “APGA continues to assert that they deserve commendation for significantly reducing insecurity challenges in our state.
Our gallant security operatives have transformed unknown gunmen into hit-and-run cowards, demonstrating the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to maintain security in Anambra.”
