    Appeal Court Dismisses Ogun NNPP Governorship Candidate’s Case Against Party Chairman

    An Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan has dismissed the case brought before it by the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Ogun State, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, over its petition against the party chairman, Sunday Oginni.

    PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the Appeal Court on the 4th of July, 2023 dismissed the Appeal over lack of merit.

    Oguntoyinbo headed to the Appeal court following the dismissal of his petition by the state governorship election petition tribunal, challenging the party chairman in the state on his right to withdraw the petition filed against the state governor,Dapo Abiodun.

    Oginni had filed the petition marked PET/ OG/ GOV/01/ 2023 against he Independent National Electoral Commission, Abiodun and the All Progressives Congress before
    Justice Hamidu Kunaza led Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta .

    The Tribunal in its unanimous judgement declared that Oginni Olaposi and the Ogun State Executive Council with their Counsel Peter Ogah are the owner of the petition and couod nit be taken over as prayed by Oguntoyinbo.

    Not satisfied, Oguntoyinbo approached the National Secretariat of NNPP in Abuja to get a letter from the National Legal Adviser to instruct the Tribunal to allow him to take over the Petition.

    The Tribunal in another unanimous decision, dismissed the application of Oguntoyinbo for lack of merits by Justice Hamidu Kunaza led Tribunal.

    Meanwhile, the party in a statement issued by the Acting Publicity Secretary of NNPP in the State Hon. Mrs Senami Agboyinu Wheto, described the Justice Hamiu Kunaza-led Panelist as one of the best Nigerian Judiciary has produced .

    The party said “he Ogun State Governorship Election Tribunal led by Justice Hamidu Kunaza did a thorough job with integrity of Purpose.

    “The entire members of the Ogun State NNPP under the Leadership of Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday are ever grateful for the unbiased Judgement and rulings of the Tribunal.

    “We hereby urge the Tribunal under the Leadership of Justice Hamidu Kunaza to in the same manner of integrity and fairness do justice to other matters pending before the Tribunal.

    “Consequently, we are using this medium to say it loud that Ogun State is in a safe hand as far as 2023 Governorship Election Tribunal is concerned.

    ” We hereby call for calmness and cooperation of both PDP and APC and other political parties having matters before the Tribunal hoping and believing that Justice shall be served without fear or favour by Justice Hamidu Kunaza led Tribunal.

    “The Appreciation of these incorruptible Judges is Coming on the upholding of the Judgement of the Tribunal by The Court of Appeal sitting at Ibadan .
