In the wake of the recent tragic incident in Kaduna State, the Arewa Action Group for Good Governance has urged President Bola Tinubu to demand the immediate resignation of Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja or dismiss them over the bombing of unarmed civilians.

PLATFORM TIMES previously reported that on Sunday, the Nigerian military conducted airstrikes that resulted in the loss of lives among Muslims celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad in Kaduna.

Despite the army’s assertion that the airstrikes targeted terrorists, the Arewa group strongly condemned the attack on unarmed civilians in Tudun Biri.

In a statement signed by Moses Saleh, the group accused Gen Christopher Musa of colluding with the Nigerian Army to cause havoc in Kaduna communities.

They asserted that the Chief of Defence Staff approved the military action without involving the Nigerian Air Force, responsible for air operations.

The statement questioned the military’s justification for the attack, emphasizing the lack of intelligence gathering and the implausibility of mistaking worshipers for terrorists.

The group expressed doubts about the incident being unintentional, pointing out a potential vendetta due to the Chief of Defence Staff’s connection to Kaduna.

The Arewa Action Group called for the dismissal of both the Chief of Defence and Army Staff, deeming the situation unacceptable.

They urged President Tinubu to take decisive action to ensure the protection of lives and properties, emphasizing the potential occurrence of similar incidents nationwide.

The group’s statement concluded with a plea for transparency and accountability within the security agencies to prevent such tragedies from going unnoticed in other parts of the country.
