The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber accused of assaulting a 20-year-old housewife in the Ringim Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP A T Abdullahi during a press briefing on Thursday, confirmed the capture of the suspect, along with two accomplices, following the reported incident.
The arrested suspects, identified as Abubakar Isah, Umar Ibrahim, and Umar Nasara, allegedly armed with cutlasses, unlawfully invaded the residence of Mudan Ibrahim in Chori Village, Ringim LGA.
They reportedly robbed him of five bags of pepper before one of them sexually assaulted his wife, Ummi Garba.
Mudan Ibrahim promptly reported the incident to the Ringim Division, leading to swift police intervention.
The suspects, all residents of Chori village, were apprehended in connection with the crime.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery and rape case.
They were subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
CP Abdullahi assured the public that upon completion of the investigation, the suspects would be arraigned in court.
He reiterated the police command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining law and order in the state.
