The Nigerian Army has announced fresh breakthroughs in its nationwide operations against terrorists and criminal gangs, arresting a notorious female logistics supplier allegedly linked to Zamfara bandit kingpin, Ado Aliero.
The arrest, carried out between September 4 and 6, 2025, came as troops intensified clearance operations across Zamfara, Borno, Adamawa, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recovering arms, petroleum products, and a stolen vehicle in the process.
According to an operational report, troops of 1 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), apprehended the female suspect at Kucheri, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
She was found with ₦37,000, a mobile phone, and other items, and later confessed to being involved in drug peddling.
In Borno State, soldiers of the 192 Battalion, supported by the Hybrid Force, engaged fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram faction JAS at Kwatara Kasa Village along the Gwoza–Limankara Road. One insurgent was neutralised, while others retreated into the Mandara Mountains.
Similarly, in Adamawa State, troops of the 232 Battalion intercepted two suspected smugglers in Mubi South Local Government Area, with 19 jerrycans of petroleum products in their possession.
In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), operatives of the 176 Guards Battalion mounted a checkpoint that intercepted a stolen vehicle traced from Osun State.
Although the suspects initially fled, they were later tracked to a hotel in Gwagwalada, where three of them were arrested. Recovered items included the vehicle, 11 mobile phones, and ₦29,700, which were handed over to the police.
In Plateau State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace recorded another success after a detained informant in Dadin Kowa led them to a concealed arms cache in Mista Ali Village, Bassa Local Government Area.
Attempting to escape, the informant was neutralised. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the hideout.
Spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, said the latest achievements were part of deliberate measures to dismantle terrorist structures, block logistics supply chains, and weaken the operational capacity of criminal groups.
She assured that the Army would sustain the momentum, particularly in rural areas where insecurity has threatened farming activities and food production.
“Our troops remain committed to denying terrorists and criminals the freedom to operate while ensuring that communities enjoy peace necessary for agriculture and other socio-economic activities,” Anele stated.
Security experts say the arrest of a female logistics supplier is significant, given the increasing reliance of terrorist groups on women for discreet intelligence gathering and supply chain operations.
The Army urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to aid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
