The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has called for the Federal Government’s commitment to eliminating  loss of lives.

Atiku urged an expansion of the security architecture as a proactive measure in Plateau and other states.

The Chairman of Community Peace Observers in Plateau State, Kefas Mallai, reported a devastating toll of over 150 lives lost in Barikin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas due to gunmen attacks.

Atiku, in a statement by his media adviser Paul Ibe, underscored the urgency for prompt and decisive government action to address the recurring atrocities, emphasizing the need for an expanded security architecture and accelerated arrest and prosecution of culprits.

Expressing concern over the frequent attacks in Plateau, Kaduna, Zamfara, and other insecure regions, Atiku insisted that only determined government efforts could halt the escalating crisis. He highlighted the growing call for state police as a response to perceived government helplessness.

Atiku’s statement pointed to a concerning decay in the judiciary, noting that criminals set free without diligent trials undermine law enforcement morale.

He warned against abandoning citizens to existential threats, emphasizing the government’s primary responsibility to protect lives and property.

Despite his absence, Atiku expressed solidarity with the affected communities in Plateau, praying for the souls of the deceased and urging unwavering support for the maimed and displaced.
