Gunmen have again launched a fresh attack on some rural communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing no fewer than five people. This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council, Farmasum Fuddang and the Secretary, Duwam Bosco. The Police said they have arrested and detained 10,852 persons across the country over various crimes in the last three months. Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, made this known on Tuesday at a meeting with officers from the rank of Commissioner and above, listing the crimes to include kidnapping, banditry and armed robbery. “The arrests and detention were carried out between July and September. Within the period, a total of 416 arms, 3,672 ammunition, 178 vehicles were recovered, while 369 kidnapped victims were rescued,” he explained. Nigeria’s Wahid Enitan Oshodi was on Tuesday elected president of the African Table Tennis Federation, ATTF. Enitan, a former Lagos State Sports Commissioner was elected unopposed. The sports administrator succeeds Egypt’s Khaled El-Salhy as president of the ATTF. The election took place at the ATTF’s 2024 Annual General Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. DAILY POST recalls that the Bureau for Education Quality Assurance, BEQA had, on September 30, sealed the school for operating in an uncompleted hotel building.
