Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two persons in connection to the gruesome murder of a police officer identified as Ibrahim Maizabuwa. The suspects nabbed include Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, who hail from Wamsa Suwa Ward in Lamurde local government area of the State. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of Mr. Martins Ugwu, who impersonated and used the certificate of his ‘best friend’ to secure a job at the Federal Ministry of Health. ICPC had in February 2016, filed a 7-count charge before Justice Abubakar Idris Kutigi, against Ugwu, for making false statement to the chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), through which he secured employment into the Federal Ministry of Health, in 2006. Over 20 passengers are missing, while a toddler and seven others lost their lives during a tragic boat accident at Beneth Island in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West local government area of Delta State over the weekend. The lifeless body of the one-year-old child was discovered hours later floating along the creek. Kaduna State Police Command has paraded a total of 523 suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities across the state. Hundreds of Women of Effium and Ezza-Effium community in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi State have staged a peaceful protest calling for the immediate release of their husbands and children languishing in prisons over the lingering communal crisis between the two neighbouring communities. Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.46% (year-on-year) in real terms in the third quarter of 2024, latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown. The growth rate is higher than the 2.54% recorded in the third quarter of 2023 and higher than the second quarter of 2024 growth of 3.19%. According to NBS, the performance of the GDP in the third quarter of 2024 was driven mainly by the services sector, which recorded a growth of 5.19% and contributed 53.58% to the aggregate GDP.
