The meeting also involves traditional rulers under the auspices of National Council of Traditional Rulers. A High-Level Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, headed by the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, has been formed to address ongoing tensions between the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as well as other conflicts in the Niger Delta. The Nigerian Army has debunked reports that insurgents have taken over a military training area in Kontagora, Niger State. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, in a statement on Wednesday, described the reports as untrue, misleading and harmful.
