The Ogun State government has advised residents of flooded areas affected by the recent release of water from Oyan Dam to relocate to higher ground in line with its earlier warning. The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, on Wednesday, said the release of excess water by the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (ORBDA) from the Oyan Dam was unavoidable to avert damage that might lead to unpalatable consequences. President Bola Tinubu has announced that Nigerian motorists can now choose between buying fuel at N1,000 per liter or opting for the more affordable Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at N200 per Standard Cubic Meter. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, has declared that the Supreme Court’s judgment on local government autonomy can’t be overturned. Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Tuesday, Fagbemi said the Supreme Court’s judgment is non-negotiable. Stressing that all parties must comply with the judgment, Fagbemi said there is no three-month grace period for the implementation of the apex court’s judgment. The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist negotiating to buy an AK-47 rifle for N1.3 million. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. The Police image maker said the suspect, who is a member of the Vikings Confraternity, has confessed to the crime. Edafe said, “He said he belong to Vikings Confraternity and was vying for number 1 position and the condition to get the position is to own an AK-47 rifle. “He was arrested while negotiating to buy the AK-47 rifle for N1,300,000.”

A Deputy Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Services, NCoS, Emby Anukwara, has disclosed that crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, was kept in a ‘privilege cell’ during his jail term in Kirikiri Prison. He explained that Bobrisky was sent to the privilege cell because he was examined and found to have both male and female sex organs. The Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Dije Abdu-Aboki, has ordered the release of 37 inmates from detention at the Goron Dutse and Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kano. The gesture is part of efforts to decongest custodial centres in the state.
