No fewer than four staff of Areago Community High School, Ogbomoso in Oyo State, have been arrested as a result of a clash between students of the school and residents around the community. The Labour Party, LP, has debunked reports making the rounds in the social media that the party leadership is partnering with President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 elections. A former presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe has dismissed claims by Peter Obi of the Labour Party that the 2023 presidential election was rigged. Dangote Refinery has resumed the purchase of crude oil from the United States to ramp up refining capacity and production. According to a Bloomberg report on Wednesday, the cargo conveying two million barrels of WTI Midland crude from Chevron Corp. is due to be delivered to the refinery next month. The new purchase comes after a three-month hiatus in purchasing crude from foreign countries, focusing instead on domestic supply. The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed the purported suspension of the chairman of the Cross River State chapter of the party, Barr. Venatius Ikem. The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has said the North is currently under siege with bandits, terrorists and kidnappers on rampage in the region. The Osun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, led by Kazeem Oyewale, has backed the Police over the arrest of Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle. The House of Representatives on Wednesday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Federal Ministry of Finance to immediately refund the 50 per cent deduction from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council’s account. Professor Godwin Oyedokun, a don at Lead City University in Ibadan, has said the sack of some federal government workers who graduated from Benin Republic universities decrees is harsh and insensitive.
