The National Economic Council, NEC, on Thursday confirmed that 321 persons lost their lives in the flood disaster which has so far ravaged 34 states of the federation. A High-Level Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, headed by the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, has been formed to address ongoing tensions between the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as well as other conflicts in the Niger Delta. The Nigerian Army has debunked reports that insurgents have taken over a military training area in Kontagora, Niger State.
