Fawaz Adebisi President Bola Tinubu has formally informed the Senate of his decision to withdraw the nomination of a controversial  Kano nominee, Maryam Shetty as a Minister. The president also told the Senate that he would be replacing her with the nomination of  Mairiga Mahmud, also  from Kano State. The president took this step on Friday, as he expanded the roster of ministerial nominees to include  his campaign spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, SAN. Maryam Shetty was originally part of the President’s initial list of 19  candidates, which had been previously submitted to the National Assembly for their scrutiny and approval.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) took a surprising turn as it submitted a Certified True Copy of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s result to  the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal. This move comes after an earlier claim that the council does not retain duplicate certificates. An official from WAEC’s Lagos office, Olufemi Olaleye, had previously appeared before the Isabo-based tribunal on July 20 following a subpoena. The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday, reported that  four women abducted have been  rescued from kidnappers. The women had appeared in a two-minute-19-seconds video clip released by the terrorists a few weeks ago, appealing to the Governor to help in facilitating their rescue.   Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos has  ordered the remand of pharmacist Ikwebe Ori Helen at the Kirikiri female section of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) for her alleged involvement in illicit drug peddling. Pensioners  in the Southwest geo-political zone have demanded for N40,000 minimum pension from governors in the zone.  The pensioners made the demand on Thursday, at the end of the meeting of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Southwest zone, held in Ibadan .
