At least four suspected bandits have been neutralised, while 20 kidnapped victims were rescued from kidnappers’ den by the Nigerian Army troops, an official disclosed. The Federal Government says the 115 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) in the country will soon be unbundled into basic and secondary schools. The Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu made this known during the opening of the Annual General Meeting of Principals of Unity Colleges in Abuja on Tuesday. The outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has warned that the civil servants would be the first victim if his candidate, Asue Ighodalo does not win the next Saturday Governorship election in the State. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it is illegal and unconstitutional for Julius Abure to continue parading himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP. The electoral body said it no longer recognises Abure or other members of the party’s national working committee, as their tenures expired in June 2024. No fewer than four persons were  burnt to death while  eight others seriously injured in an auto crash that occurred on Monday,  around 2:pm, at RCC, Ogbere, Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway. The crash reportedly involved  a white Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number XA690AKU. Confirming the crash, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, disclosed that  18 persons were involved in the accident. At least three Christian worshipers have been killed following an unprovoked attack by daredevil bandits in Bakinpah-Maro, a community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. About 31 persons including a pastor were also kidnapped when the assailants launched the attack targeting ECWA and Catholic churches in the community. Two young women, Doris Nelson and Winner Ugochukwu, have been rescued from the baby factory residence of one Nnanna Michael in the Ariaria area of Aba, Abia State.
