The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has expressed concern over the increasing number of Nigerian children living in poverty. The 2020 Multidimensional Child Poverty Analysis report, according to UNICEF, indicates that over 47 million Nigerian children, accounting for approximately 47.4 percent of the child population, are currently living in poverty. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has handed over 24,180 bags of 50kg maize and 5,828 bags of 25kg Garri to Akwa Ibom State government for onward distribution to vulnerable people in the state.
