The United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF has said Nigeria will need to build no fewer than 3.9 million toilets annually to meet the ending open defecation practice by 2025 target. Also, Zaid Jurji, head of WASH at UNICEF Nigeria, said Nigeria needs an estimated N959 billion ($2.7 billion) to end open defecation by 2025. UNICEF added that current toilet construction in the country stood between 180,000 and 200,000 toilets annually, describing it as inadequate. Fawaz Adebisi At least twenty people were trapped in a collapsed four storey hotel building in Dape, Life Camp, Abuja, according to eyewitnesses at the site. The hotel building which is owned by Summit Villa Hotel Services collapsed on Monday, around 4pm while workers were on the construction site. However, it was gathered that as of 7:44pm, nine people had been rescued from the debris. Also, rescue team from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had arrived the scene to commence rescue operations.

An early Monday morning fire outbreak affected Soprom Hotel in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, destroying properties worth millions of naira.
