The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has sacked Permanent Secretaries and suspended district and village heads appointed by his predecessor, Bello Matawalle. The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, in a press conference in Gusau on Tuesday, said the past administration wreaked havoc on the state’s economy. A man, Gabriel Ekpiri had been arrested for allegedly selling his nine-year-old son for N400,000 in the Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state. An 18-year-old boy, Ibrahim Ali, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for stealing a goat, valued at N20,000. An Area Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, gave the verdict on Monday. The police prosecutor, Inspector Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the Rantya police station on April 5 by one John Dung, who accused Ali of trespassing into his farm to steal the goat. The Court of Appeal, Calabar Division, has upheld the powers of the Federal Road Safety Corps to impound the vehicle and impose a fine on an erring motorist, one Micheal Benson, Esq., in Akwa Ibom State. The appellant, Benson, who is also a lawyer in Uyo, was arrested by operatives of FRSC on patrol in 2017 for driver’s license, vehicle licence and tyre violations.
