Ogun State  government  has allayed the fear of residents of the state on the alleged outbreak of any case of mpox across its 20  local government areas. The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have reached a compromise to avert the strike notice issued by the union. The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has directed all Mobile Network Operators, MNOs, to complete the mandatory verification and linkage of Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) to National Identity Numbers (NINs) by September 14, 2024. The NCC, on Wednesday, gave an update on the Federal Government’s 2020 policy to link all NINs to SIMs. The Commission said that to date, over 153 million SIMs have been successfully linked to a NIN, reflecting a compliance rate of 96 per cent, a substantial increase from 69.7 per cent in January 2024. The Plateau House of Assembly has reduced the tenure of elected local government officials from three to two years. The House Committee Chairman on Information, Mr Matthew Kwarpo, made this known on Wednesday in Jos while speaking with newsmen.
