A former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has declared his support for the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. Dokubo claimed that soldiers sent by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, were flying over his house. Former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, Mr Peter Obi, has donated N10 million to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala. Obi had initially pledged N20 million to the institution, including 15 others, but overpaid them by N2.5 million while redeeming the pledge, and the hospital management reported the incident to him. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss an appeal filed by former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, seeking to stop the forfeiture of $2.4 million and several choice properties linked to him. Emefiele’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Olalekan Ojo, argued before Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu on Friday, calling for a stay of proceedings pending the outcome of an appeal. Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the construction of 12 blocks of smart classrooms in four schools across the state, as part of his administration’s drive to modernize the educational sector. The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has announced that the Nigerian government has begun the Naira-for-crude sale deal with Dangote Refinery from October 1, 2024.
