Osun State House of Assembly on Monday, passed a Bill reverting the name of the state to “Osun State” from the “State of Osun”. Osun State was renamed in 2012 by former governor, Rauf Aregbesola. The Assembly, through a Bill called ‘Osun State Anthem, Crest and Flag Amendment Bill 2023’, reverted the name, flag and crest of the state from what they were. The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has confirmed the first case of anthrax in Suleja, Niger State. The Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr Columba Vakuru, in a statement on Monday, said animals showing signs of a possible case of anthrax on a farm in Suleja were reported to his office . The National Bureau of Statistics has disclosed that the Nigeria’s inflation has hit 22.79% for June 2023, The Headline inflation rate rose to 22.79% from 22.41% in May 2023 on account of higher food prices. The June 2023 Headline inflation rate showed an increase of 0.38% points when compared to May 2023 headline inflation rate. Confusion has enveloped Ondo State as the Chairman of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Bankole Ogbesetore, and his deputy, Anthony Adebusola have died less than a week interval. Fawaz Adebisi A High Court In Kaduna, has sentenced four fraudsters, Emmanuel Ogbu, known as  Ewelina Ruminska, Cornelius Oyathekhua known as Collins Fredrick, Daniel Emmanuel known as Bob Matson and Timmy Ebenezer, to two years imprisonment over fraud. Peace Adedigba A Councilor, Nelson Sylvester, popularly known as Ofunwa, representing Eha-Ulo ward, in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, Enugu State, has been shot dead by unknown persons.
