The Ogun State Government has organized a three day training for Accounting Officers and Heads of Revenue Generating Agencies in Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs. This part of the government’s effort to drive economic development, enhance revenue generation, sustainable development and fiscal growth. No fewer than 30 inmates including four minors from Correction Centres in Lagos and Ogun states have been freed by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Jus­tice Kazeem Alogba . A man, Charles Michael has been arrested alongside six others by police in Rivers for allegedly selling his three children for N1.5 million. Michael, blamed economic hardship for his action, saying he was unable to take care of the children. He confessed that he sold the children at intervals and used the proceeds to open a salon for his wife with hearing and speaking disabilities. A 17-year-old girl has been arrested by operatives of the Osun State Police Command for allegedly luring her victim from Lagos to Osun through social media. The command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, disclosed this on Wednesday, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. He said the victim was lured to Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of the state by the teenager, on June 28. Men of Lagos State ha e dragged an 18-year-old motor boy, Azeez Balogun, on Thursday, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating up one of the bus passengers and removing two of his teeth over N100 change. Balogun, whose address was not stated, was charged with assault. The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed at the Ile–Epo Bus Stop, Abule Egba Road in Lagos State on June 24, 2023. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has declared that there would be no amnesty for terrorists and bandits in the country. Lagbaja described the amnesty programme for bandits and terrorists in Zamfara State and other parts of the country as a failed programme. The COAS said this when he hosted Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, in his office in Abuja on Wednesday. The army chief said the amnesty programme had failed to achieve its purpose in the past.
