The Centre for Gender Economics in Africa has advised women artisanal miners in Ogun State to regularly wear their safety kits when they are  at  site. The centre said this after a  training exercise, encourage them to wear safety gears, the helmet, the google and the jacket always when they are at a mining site. The Vice Chancellor , Augustine University,  AUI, Ilara-Epe,Lagos State, Prof. Chris Odetunde, has appealed to the federal government to fund monuments in the country. Odetunde who spoke at the university’s Seminar on the Archaeology of Sungbo- Eredo in Lagos State . A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola has advised that only retired judges should be allowed to preside over election petition tribunals. Babalola said this while speaking on Monday, in Ado-Ekiti at an event to mark his 60th anniversary at the bar. Babalola explained that with retired judges handling the election tribunal, regular court cases would not be affected. A 26-year-old man, Offor Okike had been sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery. A High Court sitting in Abakaliki Judicial Division, Ebonyi State gave the sentence. Okike was convicted of robbing a resident of the state, Lydia Nwuba of her Toyota Corolla on April 2, 2019 at Elias Odili Street, off Adazienu junction, in Abakaliki. Tragedy struck on Friday when three Islamic pupils got burnt to death after a hut was gutted by fire in Yola, Adamawa State. A 56-year-old driver, Folarin Raufu,has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling his employer’s five-year- granddaughter. Justice Abiola Soladoye of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Monday, held that prosecution successfully proved all the ingredients of defilement against Raufu. The newly appointed Commissioners are Alausa Hakeem Tolani for Bayelsa State and Yusuf Mohammed Lawal for Borno State.
