Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Friday, raided some shanties around the popular Alaba International Market in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this on his Twitter handle, saying, police acted on credible information. No fewer than nine students of the Obafemi Awolowo University,Osun State, have been remanded for allegedly beating a colleague, Okoli Ahize, to death for phone theft. An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in the State, gave the order on Friday. Tragedy struck in Cross River State when a tree fell and killed a truck driver . The incident happened around 11:40 pm on Thursday night along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, the state capital . Narrating the incident, the conductor of the truck said that the articulated vehicle had been loaded and the driver awaiting his turn for clearance when he fell asleep. The defendants, identified as Shakiru Shittu 48,Kadir Shonoki 38, Shadiku Adeola 43, TaofeekA Aluko (38), and Adekunle Onasanya 37, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
