At least 17 members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) drowned while attempting to cross a river along the Nigeria-Niger Republic border, according to a counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama. The incident occurred between the Kafetoa and Bulabulin Gaidam communities in Yobe State, Nigeria. The insurgents were reportedly en route to Tam village in Niger Republic, near the Kannamma settlement in Yobe, when they were caught by strong water currents and swept away. Abia North senator, Orji Uzor-Kalu, has revealed why he stopped using his private jet. In a video making the rounds on social media, the senator explained that the current economic hardship forced him to stop using the jet. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has taken note of allegations of wrong figures entered in result sheets from polling units in Saturday’s Edo State governorship election. In a statement this night, INEC said they have received at least two complaints from the 4,519 polling units. A man, Ogidan Mustapha has been arrested by men  of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly severing the hands of his neighbour’s dead 13-year-old child in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state. Hours before the commencement of the off-cycle governorship election in Edo, the state government said soldiers had repelled some suspected thugs that attempted to invade the Oredo Local Government Secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
