A woman identified as Theresa Awuhe has been killed by unidentified armed men in Makurdi, the Benue State capital. The Osun State Amotekun corps has arrested one Muritala Ibrahim, 35, for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl. The state Amotekun Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu, revealed this in a statement on Monday, saying that the suspect committed the act in Aagba, Boripe local government area of the state. Operatives of the Bauchi Police Command have arrested a 37-year-old Islamic teacher for allegedly abducting two Almajiri boys from Katsina, after luring them with false promises of financial support. The suspect, identified as Abubakar Talba, an indigene of Hausari Dandal in Borno State, was arrested by detectives from the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters following a community complaint about Talba’s mistreatment of the boys under the guise of running a Quranic school. President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, and the Department of State Services, DSS. The price of food items such as beans, garri and eggs rose on a month-on-month and year-on-year basis amid economic hardship. The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, disclosed this in its latest selected food price watch for July 2024. A specific breakdown of the report showed that 1 kilogram of brown beans rose by 262.98 percent to N2,444.81 on a year-on-year basis in July 2024 from N673.53 last year. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division on Monday affirmed the nomination of Asue Ighodalo as the lawful candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. The Nigeria Police Force said it has detained 97 members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, for prosecution, following a clash in Abuja on Sunday.
