The Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, Prof. Ademola Tayo, has raised alarms over the rising cost of electricity for higher institutions, describing it as a significant threat to the sustainability of quality education in the country.  This concern was voiced during the university’s 22nd convocation ceremony held on Sunday. The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant arrests, including a woman supplying ammunition to bandits and multiple individuals involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs. In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Mr. Femi Babafemi revealed that a 32-year-old woman, Ubaida Aliyu, was apprehended with 573 rounds of 7.60 live ammunition along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.  Aliyu admitted that she was transporting the ammunition to bandits in Sokoto, highlighting the ongoing challenges of security and illegal arms trade in the region. The South West zone hunters,have raised serious allegations of victimization against certain police officers in Oyo State.  The hunters, under the banner of the Soludero Hunters Association, have called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the State House of Assembly to intervene and address their grievances. The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested five persons, including a couple, over their alleged involvement in selling a two-month-old baby. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests on Saturday in a statement in Lagos. Hundeyin said that detectives from the Oko-oba Police Division arrested the suspects following a report from the mother of the baby boy. The Nigerian Army has dismissed six soldiers for allegedly abandoning their posts during a Boko Haram attack in Borno State.  The soldiers, part of the counterinsurgency operation known as Operation Lafiya Dole, were reportedly involved in a confrontation with the insurgents near Damboa, a town that has been a frequent target of militant activities.
