A Kebbi High Court 7, sitting in Birnin Kebbi, presided by Justice Shamsudeen Jafar, has sentenced three people to life imprisonment for raping an 18-year-old married woman (deaf). The convicts are; Amiru Sani, Aliyu Umar and Bashar Dan-Inno of Wararin Zaromawa village. The Lagos State Government, has declared support for nationwide protests coming up in August, saying such demonstrations are within the rights of citizens.  This was disclosed by Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the state government on Tuesday while meeting with the Secretaries to the Local Governments, SLGs. A 28-year-old man, Kingsley Okoye, has  lost his life in a shocking incident in Okpuno Umuogali, Oba community, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.  The sequence of events leading to Kingsley’s death began with a family dispute over property and resources.  According to a witness and cousin to the deceased, Kosisochukwu Samuel Uzoekwe, Joseph had previously sold a shared family property without giving Kingsley his share of the proceeds.  This left Kingsley in a precarious financial situation, struggling to make ends meet.  Desperate and hungry, Kingsley reportedly sold three doors from Joseph’s newly constructed house without permission…

The Ogun State Government has issued a stern warning to illegal occupants in its forest reserves, particularly at Area J3 in Ijebu-East Local Government Area. The government demanded  that they vacate the premises immediately,saying the directive  is aimed at  protecting the state’s natural resources and prevent unauthorised sales of government land.  A medical doctor in Osun State, Olayode Akangbe Shakiru, has been apprehended by police for allegedly assaulting and raping an 18-year-old girl in Osogbo, the state capital.  The arrest was made by officers from the Oke-Baale Police Division following a report filed by the victim’s family. The United Nations (UN) Department of Safety and Security has issued a warning about the potential for violence in Nigeria as various groups prepare for a series of nationwide protests.  Scheduled to occur from August 1 to 10, these protests, known as the “10 Days of Rage,” aim to address the country’s severe economic hardship and soaring cost of living. The five corps members abducted on Ifon/Owo road in Ose Local Government area of Ondo State have explained how they were kidnapped and released after paying N5 million ransom. .
