The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has dismissed the timetable and electoral guidelines circulating on social media regarding the 2024 Local Government Elections for Chairmanship and Councilorship positions. The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a high-profile lawsuit filed by the family of Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Sani Abacha.  The suit sought to prevent the revocation of the late military ruler’s property located in the  Maitama District of Abuja and demanded N500 million in damages. Two Nigerian universities ; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagu,Ogun State have  recorded violent incidents, leaving one  student dead, two raped. While  a  300-Level Linguistics student of AAUA, simply identified as Emmanuel, was shot dead in his off-campus hostel by unidentified assailants, two female students of TASUED were raped after losing their belongings to the attackers. Some consumers of confectionaries in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, have stopped buying bread, meat pies and other pastries, due to continuous hikes in the price of the commodities. A  police sergeant has shot his father to death in the Tudu area of the Maduganari community, located behind the Borno State Police Command headquarters in Maiduguri. The officer, identified as Sergeant Linus Wadzani, reportedly fired multiple shots at his father, resulting in his death.  Wadzani, who serves with Mopol 6 in Maiduguri, is currently attached as a security detail at the Borno State House of Assembly. The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division on Monday affirmed the conviction of the dethroned traditional ruler of Shangisha in Magodo, Mutiu Ogundare, for faking his own abduction. The court, however, reduced Ogundare’s sentence to 12 years from the 15 years initially handed down on him by the lower court.
