The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has confirmed an outbreak of severe gastroenteritis, identified as cholera, among 25 inmates at Kirikiri Medium Security Prison.  The announcement came on Sunday, countering earlier claims by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) that custodial centers nationwide were free of the disease.  Daud Olatunji Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers launched a brazen attack on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State, abducting 20 travellers .  The attack occurred around 8 pm on Sunday, according to PLATFORM TIMES findings . The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) says account names discrepancies in Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) linked to alternate accounts of some defunct Heritage Bank customers are delaying the payment of their insured deposits. Bello Hassan, the Managing Director of NDIC told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja. Hassan said the corporation had paid a substantial amount to depositors of the defunct bank without BVN account-linked issues. The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has apprehended three suspects involved in purchasing stolen transformer armoured cables valued at ₦9.8 million.  This operation took place in OPIC Estate, Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota local governent area of Ogun State. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted  6,125 cartons of codeine syrup valued at over N7.35 billion at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, Rivers State.  NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, in a statement said the agency  conducted a 100 percent joint examination of the targeted containers which led to the recovery of 6,125 cartons containing 1,050,000 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 157,500 kilograms. Bandits have reportedly abducted the village head of Tunburku in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Malam Ashiru Sherehu.
