Daud Olatunji The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has revealed how abducted 137  students from Kutiga were rescued from their captors. The DHQ said it was done  through a collaborative operation involving the military, local authorities, and government agencies. The DHQ disclosed that the successful rescue operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, led to the liberation of primary and secondary school students who were abducted on March 7.  According to Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, a total of 137 individuals, comprising 76 females and 61 males, were rescued in Zamfara State. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced an increase in the fare for the 2024 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, citing ongoing forex challenges in Nigeria.  Intending pilgrims now face a total payment of N6.8 million, following a hike of N1,918,032.91 from the initial fare of N4.9 million. According to Farima Usara, the spokesperson for NAHCON, intending pilgrims have until March 28 to complete their payments for the spiritual journey.  The commission attributed the fare adjustment to the persistent forex crisis plaguing the nation for several months. In a tragic turn of events, it has been revealed that a teacher who was abducted alongside the Kuriga schoolchildren in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State has died while in captivity.  Senator Uba Sani, the state governor, disclosed this heartbreaking news during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday’s Politics programme.  Despite efforts by the military in collaboration with local authorities from neighbouring Zamfara State to rescue all the abducted schoolchildren, the teacher succumbed to health complications during the ordeal.
