The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed an appeal by the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, who sought to have the charges against him in an alleged drug deal quashed.  The appeal, marked CA/ABJ/CR/516/2023, was deemed unmeritorious by a three-member panel of the appellate court on Thursday, July 18. The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), the regulatory body governing the practice of engineering, has said that Nigeria recorded 22 building collapses between January to July 2024. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, fixed Sept. 25 for the arraignment of former Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in spite of a case being filed in the Court of Appeal in Abuja. A 40-year-old man, Uche Nnoli, has  regained his freedom after being detained for seven years without trial at the Onitsha Correctional Centre, Anambra State.  Nnoli, who is from Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area, was initially incarcerated due to a community crisis.
