Daud Olatunji The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ogun State Chapter, has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the release of N5.3 billion in gratuities to pensioners in the state.  PLATFORM TIMES reports that this action, according to the union, will significantly reduce the backlog of unpaid gratuities that has burdened retired civil servants in Ogun. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that 259 lives have been lost due to flooding across 22 states in Nigeria so far this year, 2024.  This figure was released on Thursday by NEMA’s Director General, Zubaida Umar, during a meeting of the National Emergency Coordination Forum (ECF) held to address the worsening flood situation in the country. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disclosed that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) across the country received a staggering 291,380 consumer complaints during the first quarter of 2024.  This was revealed in the Commission’s Q1 2024 Operational Performance Report, published in July and made public on Friday.
