Ibrahim Lamorde, the former chairman of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has passed away at the age of 61. Lamorde died on Sunday morning in Egypt, where he had traveled to receive medical treatment. A courtroom in Ilorin witnessed an emotional scene on Friday as Kolawole Mukhtar broke down in tears over a divorce case filed by his wife, Mutiat.  The Area Court was presented with Mutiat’s petition for divorce, custody of their three children, and a maintenance allowance for them. The 3rd Division General Court Martial of the Nigerian Army has sentenced Warrant Officer Danladi Shaggy to 28 years imprisonment for stealing military ammunition and an AK-47 rifle.  The court also dismissed Shaggy and five other soldiers from service for various infractions, while two additional soldiers were sanctioned. The judgment, delivered on Friday at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, was presided over by Brigadier General Liafis Bello.  The court found the eight soldiers guilty of offenses including theft, selling arms and ammunition, intimidation, and cheating. The Niger State Police Command has apprehended four soldiers suspected of involvement in the fatal stabbing of an officer from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The suspects  Identified as Sani Munzani, Abubakar Auwalu, Abubakar Sani, and Muazu Hassan, reportedly  hail from various regions across Nigeria. The Vice President  called for transformative reforms in the nation’s energy sector.  Addressing attendees at the Vanguard Economic Discourse in Lagos, Shettima emphasized the imperative of revitalizing Nigeria’s dormant refineries and reducing reliance on foreign imports.
