Daud Olatunji The Kano State Police command has arrested 269 suspects for their involvement in violent acts, destruction, and looting.  According to Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, the suspects exploited the nationwide strike to unleash chaos, targeting both public and private properties.  Items recovered from the suspects include many jerricans of 25 litres of groundnut oil, a large quantity of stationeries, foodstuffs, and other valuable properties.  These individuals are currently held at the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will be charged upon completion of investigations.  Over 30 million phone lines in Nigeria are at risk of disconnection for not being properly linked to a National Identification Number (NIN), according to the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).  The revelation was made by ALTON Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, who noted that these lines span various digital devices including car trackers, MiFi units, WiFi devices, and Point of Sale (POS) machines. “The numbers are staggering. The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has denied accusations that he directed telecommunications companies in Nigeria to tamper with network services as nationwide protests began on Thursday. Amidst growing unrest, Nigerians using major telecom providers such as MTN and Airtel took to social media to voice their frustrations over unusually slow internet speeds.  These disruptions led to widespread speculation that the Tinubu administration had instructed telecom companies to interfere with network services to hinder the protests. Emmanuel Oludare Protesters on Thursday defied an ex-parte order obtained by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, which sought to restrict the #EndBadGovernance protests to four designated locations within Ogun State.  Demonstrators, led by activist Lateef Adeshina, took to the streets of Abeokuta to voice their discontent with the current economic situation in Nigeria. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano command, has arrested 32 suspects for looting shops in Sabon Gari Area of Fagge Local Government Area of the state. The Corps Commandant, Mohammad Falala, told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in a telephone interview that the suspects were apprehended in areas around Sabon Gari, Bata, France Road, and Murtala Mohammed Way. … Curfew Imposed in Three LGAs Hoodlums set ablaze seven mass transit buses in Potiskum, Yobe State  amid the  #EndBadGovernance protests.  The buses, owned by the local government, were torched at the Potiskum Local Government Secretariat on Thursday. The Borno Police Command on Thursday alleged that Boko Haram elements have infiltrated protesters along Baga Road in Maiduguri, killing four persons, while 34 others sustained various degrees of injuries. A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, when an immigration officer accidentally shot himself while attempting to manage a large-scale protest.  The officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, was part of a joint security task force deployed to maintain order during the demonstration.  The team included personnel from the police, military, immigration, Department of State Services (DSS), and civil defence forces. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has confirmed the killing of one of the protesters  by security operatives in the Suleja area of Niger State.  This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Suleja branch of the NBA, Abdullahi Liman, following a directive from the national president of the association.  Liman, said  he visited the residence of one of the deceased protesters, Yahaya Nda Isah, to gather credible information for further action.  “The national level of the NBA has asked all the branches to constitute monitoring committees in respect of the protest,” Liman said.
