A  Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, has upheld the authority of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate and prosecute alleged financial misconduct within the Delta State Government. Prophet Godwin Ojerinde stood before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, facing allegations of assaulting one of his female tenants in Owode Egba, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Kano-based legal practitioners, Barrister Ahmad Sani Bawa, Jarman Tokarawa, and Barrister Gidado Aliyu Gidado have taken the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to court over its authority to disqualify lawyers from contesting elections based on anniversary standing. Some Point-of-Sale (PoS) operators in Abuja have threatened to hike  transaction charges for customers over the recent directive from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) mandating them.to register    The CAC had set a two-month deadline for operators to register their agents, merchants, and individuals, citing legal requirements and directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).  Kofi Kolawole, a PoS agent, expressed concern that the registration would eat into their profits and discourage newcomers from entering the business.  Clement Agbasi emphasized that the directive contradicts the CBN’s financial inclusion initiative, potentially driving customers to hoard cash instead of utilizing online transactions. …

The National Industrial Court (NIC) in Port Harcourt has asked  Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Poetharcourt, Rivere State to pay a  fume of N5.5M to a  lecturer, Zoe Tamunotonye over the violation of his rights.  Justice Zainab Bashir, presiding over the case, mandated the polytechnic to settle all outstanding salaries and entitlements owed to Tamunotonye dating back to 2022. Justice Peter Lifu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has  prevented  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from removing its  acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, from his position.
