Two out of 14 villagers abducted by bandits in the Gefe community of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, have managed to escape after their captors dozed off in their forest hideout. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State have apprehended a 70-year-old man, Fidelis Egede, along with three other individuals for allegedly cultivating cannabis on six hectares of land.  PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  suspects were arrested on Tuesday, August 13, during a raid on the illicit farm located in Alaka village. The Nigerian Army announced on Sunday that its troops had neutralised a notorious Boko Haram commander, Abu Rijab, and other terrorist fighters in an offensive operation on Saturday. The National Judicial Council (NJC) has constituted four probe panels to investigate 27 high court judges in the country over alleged judicial misconduct. A Delta State High Court sitting in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, has sentenced two men, Mr. Bright Ossai and Mr. Izagwu Obodo, to die by hanging after being found guilty of armed robbery and murder, respectively. The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), has shared the sum of N1.358 trillion among the Federal Government, States and Local Government Councils (LGCs) for the month of July. This is contained in a communique issued after FAAC meeting for August on Friday in Abuja. According to the communique, the N1.358 trillion total distributable fund comprised statutory revenue of N161.593 billion. It also comprised Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N582.307 billion and Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue of N18.818 billion.
