Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Dr. Emmanuel Barki, the acting Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo. Alongside Dr. Barki, two other senior staff members and their driver were also taken hostage. At least 16 students were killed on Friday when a school in central Nigeria collapsed on pupils taking exams, according to an AFP correspondent. Trapped students were heard crying for help under the rubble after the Saint Academy school in Jos North district of Plateau State fell in on classrooms.  The Plateau State Government says 200 pupils were trapped in the school that collapsed in Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area of the state. Daud Olatunji In a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), it was revealed that Ogun State received the least allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) among the six South West states over a period of five months. A former acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku, has pleaded with Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court in Abuja to grant him more time to conclude the refund of public funds allegedly looted by him and his co-defendant, Felix Nweke. Nwabuoku and Nweke are facing 11 counts of money laundering amounting to N1.6 billion. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting the case. Operatives of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have apprehended a woman identified as Precious Yusuf, who was caught attempting to smuggle drugs into the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abuja. Precious Yusuf was nabbed on Tuesday during a routine search by vigilant correctional officers.  Disguised as a visitor, Yusuf attempted to bring contraband into the facility, concealing the drugs in food packs.  Her actions were uncovered when the officers conducted a thorough inspection of her items, revealing substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other dangerous drugs hidden within a carton.
