The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has sounded a grave warning that Nigeria’s corruption crisis is so pervasive that strict enforcement of anti-graft laws could see the majority of citizens behind bars. At least 32 Nigerians have been deported from India following a sweeping investigation into what authorities described as one of the country’s largest transnational drug trafficking and money-laundering networks. A Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has sentenced a police sergeant, Ruya Auta, to death by hanging for the killing of a University of Jos student, Rinji Bala, during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The Kogi State Government has uncovered what it described as a suspected child-trafficking and criminal-recruitment operation after operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps intercepted a truck conveying 21 underage children into the state.
