An Ikeja Special Offences Court, on Wednesday, sentenced a man Abodurin Abozo to eight years imprisonment for defrauding a man of N62 million on the pretext of procuring him two plots of land. Justice Ismail Ijelu held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC proved the two-count charge of obtaining false pretences and stealing against Abozo. The Naira depreciated significantly against the Dollar at the foreign exchange market upon resumption of trading after Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day holiday. FMDQ data showed that it weakened to N1669.19 per dollar on Wednesday from N1541.94 exchanged on Monday. This represents an N127.25 loss against the dollar compared to the N1541.94 traded on Monday. The 2024 African Nations Championship qualifiers draw will hold on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The draw ceremony will hold at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, in Cairo, Egypt. The two rounds of qualifiers will take place on a home and away basis. The Nigeria Football Federation Referees Committee has organised a training programme for referees. Referees from Nigeria Women Football League, Nigeria National League and the Nationwide League One benefited from the exercise. The training programme took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin. The exercise began with a medical and physical fitness test. The 2024-25 NNL season will kick-off on Saturday, November 30. Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday arrested 33 suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. EFCC in a statement said the suspects were arrested in their hideouts around Iwofe and Ogboro axes of Port Harcourt. Their arrest followed a sting operation, based on credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.
