The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom, Justice Ekaette Obot, on Thursday granted freedom to 44 inmates awaiting trial at different correctional centres in the state. NAN reports that the chief judge performed the jail delivery exercise at Ikot Abasi, Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Uyo correctional centres. Speaking to newsmen at the end of the exercise, Obot, said that 42 of the freed inmates were women while two were women. Governor Umar Namadi has approved the payment of over N3.4 billion to 1,331 who exited from active service on attainment of thirty-five years in service between January to July this year and those who died while in active service. Kwara United on Thursday unveiled 17 new players ahead of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The unveiling ceremony took place at the club’s secretariat in Ilorin. Some of the 17 new players include Ifeanyi Ogba, Oyeleso Suraj, and Akani Akeem. The new players will join the existing 18 players, bringing the total squad to 35 for the upcoming season.
