Operatives of Katsina State Police Command have rescued no fewer than 30 kidnap victims and foiled several bandit attacks in a series of operations carried out across the state. Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaete Fabian Obot had freed a total of 44 inmates of correctional facilities in the state. The freed inmates comprised two females and 42 males of different age brackets who were accused of minor crimes. The Bangladeshi government on Thursday said that extensive flooding in the eastern part of the country has left two people dead and about three million stranded. It said heavy rains and water surges from upstream hilly areas caused local rivers to burst their banks, leading to widespread flooding.
