The Nigerian government raked in N581.710 billion in revenue from foreign exchange differences in July 2024. This is according to July’s Federation Account Allocation Committee communique. DAILY POST earlier reported that federal, state and local governments received N1.358 trillion as allocation for July 2024. The disbursed fund is a fraction of the N2.613 trillion total gross revenue for the period under review. Gunmen who kidnapped 20 medical students of the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos and a House Officer have demanded N50 million ransom for their release. Global human rights group, Amnesty International, has condemned the Nigerian Government for arraigning over 1,000 protesters in court. DAILY POST recalls that the 10 days hunger protests turned violent in some states, leading to the arrest of several protesters. Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has signed an Executive Order banning the activities of scavengers in the state. In a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, he said the prohibition takes immediate effect and will remain in force in all 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State until further notice. “For the purpose of this Order, “scavenging” means the act of rummaging through waste or engaging in any activity that constitutes a nuisance or health hazard,” it said.
