Jigawa State Government has disputed rumours alleging that the upcoming local government election scheduled for October 5, 2024 was postponed. Special adviser to the Governor on election matters, Hon. Abbas Ibrahim disclosed this in a statement. He said the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, JISIEC, had no power to change the date of the election without the consent of the political parties and other relevant stakeholders.
