Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has identified 60 flash spots in Edo ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state. The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Gbenga Agun made this disclosure on Friday in Benin during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. A month after the gruesome killing of a popular Akure-based caterer in Ondo State, Debbie Adene, her driver, who allegedly participated in the murder, has been arrested by the police. The driver, whose name was yet to be disclosed by the police, had been on the run since committing the crime in August 2024. Ahead of the Edo gubernatorial elections, the Nigeria Police Force has ordered the restriction of all vehicular movement on roads, waterways, and other forms of transportation from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday. Some civil society groups have cried out over the large number of awaiting trial inmate’s in Nigeria’s correctional centres. The groups, during the Cvil Society Organisations meeting in Adamawa State, hosted by the Public & Private Development Centre (PPDC), noted that about 70 percent of inmates are awaiting trial.
