The Convener of the United Premier Movement (UPM), Hon. Chief Olalekan A. Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, has felicitated His Imperial Majesty, Oba Micheal Adédọ̀tun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.
In a goodwill message issued in Abeokuta on Sunday, Shoyinka lauded the monarch’s reign, describing him as a father of peace, unity, and progress whose leadership has transformed Egbaland.
According to him, Oba Gbadebo’s 19-year reign has brought about infrastructural renewal, educational advancement, and economic growth in Egbaland, while also fostering harmony among Egba sons and daughters.
“Under Kabiyesi’s distinguished reign, Egbaland has witnessed significant upgrades in infrastructure, a boost in education, and steady economic growth. Above all, His Majesty’s consistent advocacy for peace has strengthened unity among our people,” Shoyinka said.
He further prayed for God’s continuous blessings on the monarch, wishing him long life, good health, and greater wisdom to steer Egbaland towards more prosperity.
“May the sacred crown of Egbaland—Adé Orí Egba—remain firmly on Kabiyesi’s head, guiding our land to greater prosperity and progress,” he added.
Shoyinka also applauded the monarch’s commitment to cultural preservation, stressing that Oba Gbadebo’s devotion to socio-economic development remains a model for traditional rulers across Nigeria.
On behalf of his family, political associates, and members of the United Premier Movement, Shoyinka congratulated the Alake on the milestone, calling on all Egba indigenes to continue supporting the royal father in his mission to uphold unity and development in the land.
