Ballon d’Or: ‘He’s different’ – LaLiga president, Tebas names favourite player to win award

La Liga president Javier Tebas has named Real Madrid attacker Vinícius Júnior as the most deserving player to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Vinícius is at the forefront of players queuing up to claim this year’s award after an outstanding season with Real Madrid.

Tebas believes that the 24-year-old Brazilian should win it.

Organisers of the individual award, France Football, recently released a 30-man list of nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

As many as seven Real Madrid players, including Vinícius, made the cut.

Real Madrid won the La Liga title, the Champions League, and the Supercopa de España last season, which certainly justifies the number of their players on the list.

Vinícius is the favourite according to many, to win the award.

He will have to contend with his teammates Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, and Dani Carvajal, who are also very much in the running.

However, Tebas believes Vinícius was the standout player last season in world football.

He said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra on X: “Ballon d’Or? Vinícius is a different player. He deserves it.”
