Bandits Abduct Village Head in Fresh Kaduna Attack, Heighten Fear in Community

The Village Head of Bauda in Maro community, Kufana Chiefdom, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr. Obadiah Iguda, has been abducted by suspected bandits in a fresh attack that has heightened fear and tension in the area.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, around 1:00 a.m., when the armed men stormed the community and whisked away the traditional ruler without firing a shot or abducting any other resident.

According to a report submitted to the Agom Kufana by the Overseer of Kufana District, Mr. Stephen Maikori, the bandits appeared to have come specifically for the village head, as no other household was attacked and no property was looted.

“This senseless act of violence has further deepened the atmosphere of insecurity and fear among the residents of Bauda and its surrounding communities,” Maikori said in the letter addressed to His Royal Highness.

The abduction has left the Bauda community in disarray, disrupting its traditional leadership structure and further exposing the vulnerability of rural areas in the face of growing insecurity in Southern Kaduna.

The Kufana District authority has called for immediate and sustained intervention from security agencies to forestall future attacks and ensure the safe return of the abducted traditional ruler.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said he was yet to be fully briefed on the incident and promised to get back after confirmation. However, as of the time of filing this report, no further information had been provided by the police.

The latest attack adds to the long list of security breaches in Kajuru and other parts of Southern Kaduna, where banditry and kidnapping have become increasingly rampant despite efforts by the state and federal governments.
