In a shocking turn of events, a group of audacious armed robbers unleashed chaos at the Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu, Ogun State, engaging in a fierce gun battle with the Nigeria Police Force.

During this violent confrontation, one police inspector and two security guards sustained gunshot wounds, according to an official statement released by the Ogun State Police Command.

The wounded law enforcement officer and guards were swiftly evacuated to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, thanks to the prompt response of medical personnel.

Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson in Ogun, revealed that the Sagamu Area Command received a distress call around 1 a.m. on Friday, alerting them to the presence of armed criminals at the hotel.

In response to this urgent situation, a combined team of police officers was mobilized to the scene.

Upon their arrival, the criminals, who had earlier infiltrated the hotel premises, initiated sporadic gunfire as soon as they spotted the approaching officers.

A fierce gun duel ensued, with the police valiantly engaging the armed assailants.

During the exchange of bullets, two of the criminals were critically injured, while the others managed to escape into a nearby forest, bearing the wounds of their failed criminal endeavor.

The aftermath of the clash revealed a cache of evidence, including two locally crafted single-barrelled guns, four unexpended cartridges, 13 expended cartridges, one oversized pair of scissors, and a stash of 10 Android phones along with one Java phone.

Additionally, a white Toyota Venza car bearing registration number BWR 123DD Abuja was discovered at the scene of the crime.

Investigations have unveiled that the suspected armed robbers had cunningly blended in with the hotel’s lodgers before launching their daring attack, catching both the guests and authorities off guard.

In response to this brazen criminal act, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu Abiodun has issued an immediate order for a comprehensive manhunt to track down the two fleeing suspects, ensuring that justice is served and safety is restored to the community.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present challenges faced by law enforcement in their tireless efforts to protect the public from criminal elements
