Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphatically declares that gender should no longer impede excellence and leadership in her recent statement.

This proclamation comes in the wake of the historic investiture of Engr Margaret Oguntala as the 34th President and the first-ever female President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers.

Speaking at the investiture held at the African Hall, International Conference Center Abuja, Salako-Oyedele, herself a female engineer and politician, expressed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by women in traditionally male-dominated careers.

Salako-Oyedele highlighted the significance of Engr Oguntala’s elevation, stating that it sends a powerful message of inclusion, representation, and empowerment.

She firmly reiterated that gender should no longer be a hindrance to achieving excellence and holding leadership positions.

Commending Engr Oguntala’s remarkable accomplishments spanning decades in engineering, the Deputy Governor noted that her dedication and passion have inspired individuals, irrespective of gender or age, to pursue and sustain their dreams in the field.

While acknowledging Engr Oguntala’s perseverance in shattering professional glass ceilings, Engr Salako-Oyedele emphasised the positive impact of her mentorship and leadership style.

She expressed confidence that this breakthrough will encourage more women to pursue careers in Engineering.

In her call to action, the Deputy Governor highlighted the crucial role of Engineers in driving economic growth and social development.

She urged the new President to leverage her position to advocate for governmental support, emphasising the need to harness the collective talents of the engineering community to address pressing challenges.
